All-new 2027 BMW i3

The BMW 3 Series has gone fully electric, and the all-new BMW i3 Sedan is the most exciting sports sedan to hit the road in years. It pairs the driving feel BMW is known for with up to 468 miles of estimated range, 463 horsepower and a cabin that feels like a step into the future.

Deliveries start in the first quarter of 2027, and reservations are open now. Here’s what makes the i3 special, what each of its three trims (Sport, M Sport and M Sport Professional) brings to the table, and how to get yours first.

Power, range and charging that go the distance

The i3 delivers sports sedan performance without a single stop for gas. Two electric motors from BMW’s Gen6 eDrive technology produce an estimated 463 horsepower and 476 lb-ft of torque, enough for a 0-60 mph run in about 4.5 seconds, according to BMW.

  • Range: an estimated 446 to 468 miles on a single charge, which means fewer charging stops on road trips and a lot less range anxiety around town.
  • Fast charging: the 800V battery system supports DC fast charging up to 400 kW, and a 10-80% charge takes as little as 21 minutes, and 10 minutes at 400 kW can add up to 191-208 miles of range.
  • Easy access: a built-in NACS charge port gives you adapter-free access to the Tesla Supercharger network, on top of the wider BMW Charging network.
  • Bidirectional charging: the i3 can act as an energy storage device or a mobile power source at home or on the go (additional BMW accessories required).

Designed around the driver

The i3 looks athletic from every angle. The kidney grille and headlights blend into one seamless face, a reimagined light signature sets it apart at night, and the silhouette is unmistakably BMW sports sedan.

Inside, everything points toward the driver. A high-resolution central display and BMW Panoramic Vision sit in your line of sight, with an available 3D Head-Up Display for even better visibility. BMW Operating System X keeps the experience intuitive and personal, and ambient lighting sets a premium mood.

The driving experience matches the cabin. BMW Heart of Joy and Dynamic Performance Control sharpen response and precision, and available Adaptive Suspension adjusts to the road for a more refined ride. A panoramic glass roof, heated power front seats, wireless charging and adaptive cruise control with steering assistance all come standard.

Three trims: Sport, M Sport and M Sport Professional

The i3 50 xDrive launches with the same dual-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrain no matter which trim you choose, so the decision comes down to style and personality. Each step up adds a little more M attitude.

Sport: the confident starting point

Sport is the standard design and adds nothing to the $61,500 starting price. It is far from bare-bones: 19-inch wheels, a panoramic glass roof, heated front seats, BMW Digital Key Plus and wireless charging all come standard. So does Driving Assistant Plus, with adaptive cruise control and steering assistance that keeps you centered in your lane. Choose it if you want the full i3 experience with clean, understated styling.

M Sport: sharper looks, sportier feel

M Sport adds $2,000 and brings M Sport exterior and interior elements, a sports steering wheel and 19-inch M Aero Polygon wheels. It also unlocks the Black BMW M interior at no extra cost and makes Adaptive M Suspension available for $950. Want some color? Blue-caliper M Sport brakes are a $650 option.

M Sport Professional: the full statement

M Sport Professional costs $3,200 and replaces the M Sport package with even more presence. You get the illuminated Iconic Glow kidney grille, M Sport brakes with your choice of red or blue calipers at no price difference, and an M steering wheel. The Iconic Glow grille is also part of the Technology Package, so that package drops from $1,900 to $1,400 on this trim.

Which i3 is right for you?

Sport starts at $61,500 and M Sport Professional tops out at $64,700 before options, a gap of just $3,200.

Trim Added cost MSRP before destination Standout touches Best for
Sport $0 $61,500 Standard design with full standard equipment Drivers who want a clean, understated look
M Sport $2,000 $63,500 M Sport exterior and interior elements, sports steering wheel, 19-inch M Aero Polygon wheels Drivers who want a sportier look and the option of Adaptive M Suspension
M Sport Professional $3,200 $64,700 Iconic Glow illuminated grille, M Sport brakes with red or blue calipers, M steering wheel Drivers who want the boldest, most M-inspired i3

A few popular add-ons are worth a look. The $1,900 Technology Package combines the 3D Head-Up Display, Harman Kardon audio and the Iconic Glow grille. Adaptive M Suspension ($950) requires either M Sport package, and the 21-inch wheel upgrade ($1,350) requires it as well.
